The Capitol Supplies Self-study Technical Training Programs is an innovative approach to technician certification. Each module features a self-study resource book that is designed to help you master the subject material. Once you have finished your preparation, at your own pace and schedule, you can schedule a day and time with our Testing Proctor to come in and take the Certification Test. Your test is sent to Esco Testing Institute where they will score it and determine if you passed. Upon successful completion you will be mailed a Certificate of Completion. The Capitol Supplies Technical Training Program is a versatile and flexible training program you can use to provide a pathway for your service technicians to increase and enhance their technical skills.

Course #: 01 – 608PM – Sect 608 – EPA
Section 608 of the Federal Clean Air Act requires that all persons who maintain, service, repair or dispose of appliances that contain regulated refrigerants be certified in proper refrigerant handling techniques
Course #: 02 – RCP – Basic Refrigeration & Charging Proceeudures
This program provides the knowledge to accurately perform system installation, basic repair, and the information necessary to properly charge modern equipment.
Course #: 03 – 410APM – Universal R410A Safety Training
The R-410A Safety Training Program addresses the issues of safe handling, training and certification with the use of R-410A.
Course #: 04 – HCRSESPM – Hydrocarbon Refrigerants
HVACR professionals need a solid understanding of the refrigeration cycle and proper handling of CFC, HCFC and HFC refrigerants. Having been approved for use in specific applications under the EPA’s Significant New Alternatives Policy (SNAP), it is only a matter of time before technicians begin encountering systems utilizing these refrigerants in the field.
Course #: 05 – HPOIS – Heat Pumps – Operation, Installation , and Service
This program is designed to provide students and technicians with a comprehensive overview of the heat pump system, its operation and principles.
Course #: 06 – RZGH – Medium and High Effeciency Gas Furnaces
This program provides an overview of the important aspects of the medium to high efficiency gas furnaces used in central heating applications, from the combustion process to the venting of the furnace itself.
Course #: 07 – CAFÉ – Combustion Analysis & Fuel Effeciency
This program is designed to provide a full understanding of the combustion process, combustion test procedures and the adjustments required to maximize fuel efficiency.
Course #: 08 – COPM – Carbon Monoxide
This program addresses the hazards inherent in carbon monoxide generation and testing procedures. Additionally, it provides an overview of combustion analysis and the relation of building pressures to carbon monoxide generation.
Course #: 09 – RHLCPPT2 – Residential Heat Loads
Residential energy studies show that 72% of systems are improperly sized. Determining the proper heating and cooling load for a structure is one of the most important processes when installing a new HVAC system. A system that is too large or small can greatly impact not only the building occupant’s comfort and health but also the energy consumption of the structure and equipment life.
Course #: 10 – SDTP – System Diagnostics & Troubleshooting
Trouble with Troubleshooting? Get a solid foundation in mechanical refrigeration diagnostic and troubleshooting procedures.
Course #: 11 – SPVPM – System Performance – Maximizing Energy Perforamance
System Performance provides the techniques and procedures required to maximize the energy efficiency of HVAC systems and reduce call backs. A study of residential HVAC systems shows: 68% are improperly charged, 70% have improper airflow, and 91% remain untested for combustion safety and efficiency.
Course #: 12 – GAP2 – Green Awareness
The Green Awareness training program provides a basic understanding of green concepts, terminology, systems, and the latest in green mechanical technology.
Course #: 13 – DLTPM – Duct Leakage Testing
Duct leakage testing provides an in-depth understanding of duct leakage testing procedures, methods of expressing results, and terminology.
Course #: 14 – ETAHPM – Electrical Theory & Application
Electrical Theory and Application for HVACR provides students and practicing technicians with the information and knowledge necessary to accurately and safely diagnose and solve electrical system faults. Electrical Theory and Application for HVACR was written by HVACR instructors for HVACR instructors to simplify the instruction of electricity.
