As mandated by the Department of Energy (DOE), commercial package unit efficiency (as measured by the IEER rating) is set to increase January 1st, 2018. Unit efficiency has been mandated to increase 10% , and is the largest energy saving mandate that the DOE has passed. It is estimated that this change will save a typical building owner $4,200-$10,100 over the life of a single rooftop air conditioner. As the industry prepares for this change, availability of the current offering of package units will become scarce and availability of the new efficiency units will no doubt have some constraints.  Allied Air is preparing for this change by building up stock on the current model units as a way to ease the transition over to the new efficiency models.

Capitol Supplies has set a deadline of December 15th, 2017 as a cut off date for orders of existing efficiency models. Units quoted and ordered after that can not get guaranteed availability & price.  Orders placed after that date could be canceled and requoted with the new more efficient , and more expensive units if the older units are not available. These new more efficient models will cost on average 5-7% more.  If you want to guarantee your price, place your order no later than December 15th, 2017.
